About SLAA

The primary goal of The Sierra Leone Association of Alberta (SLAA) is to bring together Sierra Leoneans and Sierra Leonean-Canadians who are living in Edmonton and surrounding communities in Alberta, Canada. Our activities include, but are not limited to, seeking the interests of its members and building and reinforcing a sense of community at individual, familial, and community levels.

  • To promote collaboration among Sierra Leoneans in Edmonton.
  • To coordinate and promote activities beneficial to the association.
  • To facilitate the development of association members.
  • To build and maintain solidarity among other ethno-cultural communities.
  • To support youth development.

We are aware that to overcome poverty, social injustice and enjoy equal rights and opportunities, we put our efforts together to build a better community.

Vision and Mission

The vision and mission of the association are that members of the Sierra Leonean community in Alberta experience equitable access to opportunities and resources for the health and wellbeing of members that include education, health services, and social inclusion.
