SLAA believes that caring for our seniors is a traditional responsibility of the family and community in a typical African home setting. As such, we are not accustomed to the western method of caring for seniors by a way of sending them to seniors’ home. SLAA has a pool of community volunteers who render the following services to our seniors: • Help seniors or their family members identify, access, and use available support services Prepare and serve meals in a community setting to those who cannot prepare our traditional meals or obtain adequate nutrition occasionally
Help in household tasks such as heavy cleaning and yard work.
Community-based programs offering social, recreational and health related services in congregate setting.
